one of my friends posed this on facebook with the caption and I love it so much I just had to share. 

I was actually searching pictures of the largest great white recorded yesterday and 99.9% of the pictures were of slaughtered sharks and people basking in the glory of their 'trophies.' blah it was making me sick. 

Congress passed the Shark Conservation act in the US so yay for that! 

But there is still so much more that can be done

Maybe take a second and read about their causes, check out their blog, and find out all the ways that you can help  make sure our oceans are still full of life for centuries to come.

This is one of my all time favorite pictures of a shark. Its scares the living crap out of me and yet Im just so freaking amazed. I also can't help but look at this and think WHAT IF?!?!! GAHH id die.. maybe even literally!

Fact o the day 

Sharks can use heartbeats to track their prey. Sharks have nodules on their noses about the size of a pimple, called ampullae of Lorenzini. These nodules sense electricity, so the electrical pulses that come from a beating heart can act like a beacon for nearby sharks

Holy hell it took me forever to get these done. Everytime i pulled out the polish P made me paint her nails then she didnt nap for 2 days so I had one nail done for like 3 days and I finally just finished them! 

Fact o the day 

Most sharks live in saltwater, so how do river sharks survive in freshwater? They take in extra water and then urinate into the stream around them, at a rate over 20 times faster than the average saltwater shark!

Missed yesterday Mikey came home from Del. we were bonding family style so sorry! today I have 2 shark facts for you and I have a surprise I'll be working on during nap time!

 Blue sharks are among the most threatened species of sharks in the world. Trade in shark fins and overfishing have caused them to decline so rapidly that scientists worry about their future recovery.

Fact #2

It takes a lot of work to maintain a gene pool: Some female sharks use sperm from multiple males to father a single litter. That makes her pups half-siblings, even though they're born at the same time.

Also.... stumbled upon this today and was lieterally sick to my stomach to see how many resturaunts in VA alone serve shark fin soup! And SO many are with in a 10 mile radius of me! How do you deal with that? Read this article and when you get to the bottom read the 'Take Action' section.... I'm planing on getting some brochures to hand out or mail to these places and you should too!

2 Shark Week: Day 1

Hello my lovely readers today is the first official day of SHARK WEEK... are you pumped?! Good! 

Yesterday the Griffins came over and they brought us goodies from the beach. I got my present just in time to celebrate and just in case you were wondering, no present will ever top this one so you can try but you will fail.

Shark Fact of the day:

It's a shark-eat-shark world ... sometimes even before the sharks are born. When some species' embryos begin to develop teeth, they eat their unborn brothers and sisters until one shark remains, an act known as intrauterine cannibalism.

Shark week is the BEST week of the year. I count down to it. It makes me giddy. IM SO EXCITED!!!!
